Chapter 35 "Shaking the Mountain Fever"

Definition- Mountain fever is much like cabin fever but on a mountain.

Its something that almost every Working Holiday Club Member will feel at some point; that and being home sick. Which both Kylie & myself felt when we got sick/injured ourselves...
Why? I think it's because you've done everything your resort has to offer and everything you do is no longer exciting and starts to become day to day life....
So what do you do when this happens?

That's a very good question, so we looked to The Working Holiday Club and their members for some advice.

TWHC Member Teri Masters, 22 from Perth Says:
"Buy a car at the start of the season, that way when you have 2 days off you can go explore"- Very Practical Advice if you have the money to do so, if not buy in a group like Teri did.

A Guy whom wishes to remain Anonymous says:
"Toughen Up" - We just love the support and thats why he wished to remain anonymous.

Jake Gibbs from The Working Holiday Club:
"Take a few days off and go explore somewhere else/new to feel the excitment you did when you first arrived"

So thats what exactly what we've done. We've just arrived in Vancouver yesterday; to see the things we didn't see when we were too busy shopping for new equipment and having far to many drink with the other club members.

Taking a short Trip off the mountain for a few days was the best advice Jake could of given us. That's the best thing about The Working Holiday Club; once your at your resort the help just doesn't stop, they are there to help to the very end of the season.

I'm excited to shop, go to the aquarium, shop, to see my first NHL game, shop, go to Grandville Island and shop. Not too sure if Kylie feel's the same about shopping though...

Chapter 34 "Saying Good Bye"

So we've met alot of great people on the working holiday and had to had to say good bye to a lot of friend as they are going back to uni to start a new semester, some who had to go back for wedding and others who have broken bones and needed to be back home for medical reasons.

Which has meant lots of "going away parties" and "goodbye dinner" and lots of alcohol.

Sunday Roast Dinner

Sunday Roast Dinner

Goodbye Dan & Kel!!!

Along with saying good bye to the friends we've met also comes the reality that our working holiday is soon to be over as well...

So what do we do to make the most out of our last month on the resort:

* First of all I'm detoxing from all these dinners & drinks.

* Use all the food before we leave- no waste from us.

* Get out on the snow boards every opportunity that we have so we have, so there is no regrets.

* Same goes for those Ice Skates we bought in Vancouver.

* Try to pack our back packs to send home anything that wont fit.

* Plan our next adventure. (Im most excited for this)

Planning our next adventure is so exciting and now that we've done a working holiday we have the tools we require to plan our next trip. Not to mention all the contacts we have since doing so, our opportunities are endless picking one is the hardest part now.

"Hello New Adventure"

Chapter 33 "Snow Sculpture"

Silver Star are proud platinum sponsors of this years Vernon Winter Carnival. The Carnival held different events, competitions, attractions and shows throughout Vernon.

Silver Star Mountain provided lots of snow for the Snow Sculpture Competition and the teams of artist work day & night to turn massive blocks of ice into their master pieces.

At first we were puzzled as to what they were going to be but drawing into the 2nd day they started to take form filling our mountain with beautiful pieces of art.

Here is what they looked like...

The sculptures have been amazing to look at every day on our way to work and have brought lots of locals to the mountain to see these gigantic sculptures for themselves. It was great to be apart of a local event and I'll be sad to see them disappear...

You never now what the working holiday will throw you way, it's not just all about partying & boarding. It's about living amongst a new community with a different sense of culture as well.

Come check it out for yourself next winter with The Working Holiday Club.

Chapter 32 "Birthday Strip"

Since beginning our travels with The Working Holiday Club nothing has cease to amaze us, we've had a lot of nights to remember and a few we rather we didn't.

This is one we're happy to remember but we're not so sure about what Canadian Councillors will think as per our Visa Agreement clearly states & I quote: "Not Valid for employment in business related to the sex trade such as strip clubs, massage parlours or escort services"

Right there in black and white...

Well without further a do, the title of this chapter should explain the rest. So dim the lights and sit tight for this special show...

Thanks Aaron, you really know how to embrace the moment & somehow we think you've done this before. If not maybe you should pretend you didn't read the notice on your visa & make some extra cash?

"Thats it for this blog, until next time keep those undies sexy incase you have to give someone lucky a birthday surprise"

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLUBBERS"

Think you can do better than Aaron? Let us know, or even better bring it next season.- change the "comment as" button below the post to: anonymous; this will allow you to leave a comment without creating an account.

Chapter 31 "Vernon Vipers Hockey Game"

So working at Silver Star Mountain Resort comes with many perks. One of the perks are our many activities/excursions like- trips to other resorts, shopping shuttle buses, rock climbing, snowboarding, Tube town & Skiing?

So as you all know i have been injured and have been couped up in my room. (232 by the way if anyone wants to visit) The boredom was killing me as I haven't been able to do any o those physical activities; until I realised that we had the staff hockey trip on Saturday night…

Finally a chance to get out and Oh did I mention Rachel had to work… Boys night out!! Kinda, *insert awkward face* a few of us girls boarded the bus ready for a great night. We made our way down the mountain to Wesbild Centre

When it comes to sports I'm in my element, but Hockey was just out of my league, well all the girls league really we sat there asking the boys all the rules. It was crazy, the atmosphere was awesome and the company I was with made the night.

The VERNON VIPERS lost 3-1 apparently they lose a lot but it was awesome to watch. I took heaps of video for you all as we had the best seats in the house.. and its worth a watch..

Also some of the boys put their hands up for half time entertainment…

Jump on The Working Holiday Club wagon and make sure you pick Silver Star Resort to enjoy the great experiences that we have had!

So we are more than half way through our season at Silver Star has and we're making plans for after the Season.

We've had so much fun with this whole experience and we've both grown as individuals and a couple.

We've travelled the West Coast of LA and met some amazing people at incredible locations.

Here are a few of our favourite memories.
Our Favourite boys from San Diego Hostel.
Amazing Sunsets along the Coastline of San Diego.
Surviving a night in Tijuana, Mexico.
Awesome 3 night stay in Disney Land.
Seeing our first live killer whale at Sea World.

Kylie's Epic Day at Universal Studios.
Seeing San Francisco
Travelling the world had always been a dream for Kylie & I now it's a reality and planning where we're going next is just too good to be true.

What do we have in store for us already "Coachella" in Palm Springs, California for 3 nights of our favourite artist.

From there who knows where we'll go; maybe Vegas, New York or another Snow Season somewhere else in the world. Life just doesn't get any better than this.

Thanks to everyone across the globe who has been reading our blogs. It's great o get support & we love helping you out with your travel questions...
